 Overview

Chevrolet is causing a stir in the automotive scene with the 670-horsepower Corvette Z06, impressing neighbors two blocks away with its powerful startup and distinctive exhaust sound. This top-tier variant of the Corvette Stingray boasts a wider profile, an 8500 rpm redline, and track-ready features, marking a significant evolution. Simultaneously, Chevy is challenging norms with the 2024 Corvette, introducing a hybrid version that combines an electric motor with the iconic V8 engine. This strategic addition transforms the Corvette into a 600-plus-horsepower, all-wheel-drive sports car dubbed the E-Ray. These innovations underscore Chevrolet's dedication to pushing the boundaries of high-performance automotive engineering.

What’s the New?

The 2024 Chevy Corvette Z06 is still super exciting and hasn't lost any of its coolness. It comes in new colors like Riptide Blue and Cacti Green, and you can even get special racing stripes with different colors. They added cool options like carbon-fiber wheels with a red stripe and a package to make the engine look even cooler. Now, the rearview mirror camera is standard. Also, there's a new version called the E-Ray with electric help, and it has extra safety features. The 2024 Corvette is part of the same family introduced in 2020, and it just keeps getting better.

Which Corvette Model Should I Buy?

The Corvette Z06 is a really cool car with a starting price in the six-figure range. It's worth the money because it has awesome performance features, and it's actually a good deal compared to European supercars that do similar things. If you want the best value, go for the basic 1LZ Coupe. But if you want even more performance, there's a special package called Z07 Performance. It gives you things like a special suspension, super brakes, and high-performance tires. If you get this package, you can also add another package called Carbon Aero, which makes the car look cooler with special carbon-fiber parts. There's also a fancier trim called 2LT that costs a bit more but gives you extra cool stuff like heated seats, wireless phone charging, navigation, a better sound system, and a warning system for when cars are behind you. So, the Corvette Z06 is a great choice if you want a fast and cool sports car.

Engine, Transmission and Performance

The new Corvette Z06 has a powerful 5.5-liter V-8 engine that sounds like a Ferrari and gives an exciting driving experience. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in a super quick 2.6 seconds, thanks to its high-performance features like the eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. The car's body is made of lightweight materials like aluminum and carbon fiber, making it more rigid than the previous model. It has a strong structure with fewer joints and comes with power steering, a 5.56 rear axle ratio, and a special Z06 suspension system. The car's performance is further boosted by features like Brembo® antilock brakes, a sporty exhaust, and the 8-speed automatic transmission. The engine has a redline of 8600 RPM, delivering 670 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. In a speed test, the Z06 impressively stops from 0 to 150 mph and back to 0 in just 22.5 seconds. It also offers additional features, such as large forged aluminium wheels, an optional Z07 package, and a front lift with memory for clearing obstacles.

The Corvette Z06 Exterior

The Corvette's exterior is designed for both style and functionality. With its sleek and aerodynamic profile, the car exudes a sporty and aggressive presence. The body features a combination of carbon fiber and sculpted lines, enhancing both performance and visual appeal. The convertible model comes with a power rear window for an open-air driving experience. The Corvette is equipped with various safety features, including an inclination sensor that detects vertical motion, triggering an alarm response in the event of an attempt to lift the vehicle. The exterior also includes power door locks with programmable options for convenient access. The available Stealth Interior Trim Package adds a dark finish to aluminum trim elements, complementing the overall sophisticated and dynamic look of the Corvette. Whether it's the standard seat belt color or the customizable two-tone seats, the exterior design details contribute to the Corvette's distinctive and captivating appearance on the road.

The Corvette Interior Quality and Cargo Space

Chevrolet demonstrates its commitment to innovation in the interior of the mid-engine Corvette, highlighting the remarkable Performance Data Recorder (PDR) as the standout feature. This system serves two roles, acting as a reliable daily dash cam for potential misconduct scenarios and transforming into a track camera for lap recording. The interior is crafted to exceed the standards found in other Chevy models, featuring unique elements such as a square steering wheel and a distinctive set of climate-control buttons on the center console. Despite these unconventional touches, the cabin layout prioritizes the driver's experience, offering a comprehensive range of standard and optional features, including a digital gauge cluster, a head-up display, heated and ventilated seats, and wireless phone charging. Underlining its suitability for the track, the interior incorporates microsuede accents, more aggressively bolstered seats, and the option of two carbon-fiber-intensive packages. The recent introduction of the Artemis Green/gray color adds a refreshing aesthetic, enhancing the overall appeal of the mid-engine Corvette's interior.  The Corvette's spacious rear trunk is expected to remain a convenient space for drivers to transport two sets of golf clubs.

Fuel Economy and MPG

The Z06's EPA estimates of 12 mpg city and 19 mpg highway contrast sharply with premium gasoline's efficiency at 15 combined MPG (12 city, 21 highway). The premium fuel's balanced performance, consuming 6.7 gallons per 100 miles, makes it a more versatile and fuel-efficient choice compared to the Z06, highlighting the significant difference in mileage between the two.

The Infotainment and Connectivity

The Corvette's impressive dashboard includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen with features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Wi-Fi for staying connected. You can choose between two stereo systems. The special Z06 model has a cool feature called the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) for recording drives and a security feature for valet parking. This tech is similar to what you find in other Chevrolet cars— an 8-inch color touchscreen with Chevrolet infotainment and Google technology for a personalized driving experience.

Driver Assistance Safety

Chevrolet provides a set of driver assistance features that are commonly seen in other GM products and brands. Despite the supercar-level performance, having safety measures in place is reassuring to prevent any unwanted accidents. These features include :

Standard rear parking sensors

Available blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert

Automatic emergency braking

Following distance indicator

Forward collision alert

HD backup camera (front included on 2LZ and 3LZ)

Lane keep assist with lane departure warning

Side blind zone alert (2LZ and 3LZ)
